Background: There are more than a million non-profit organizations operating across the country for a variety of causes; from education to urban governance, from human rights to livelihood; tremendous amounts of citizen time, energy and resources are being devoted to the citizen sector. However, the internal challenges faced by social entrepreneurs are as big as the social problems they seek to solve. Financial resources and skilled human resources are many times hard to come by. Lack of project design and management tools and processes makes operations unorganized and chaotic. Technology adoption is slow, people development and career planning is almost non existent. In short there is a great need for support organizations that can service the requirements of the citizen sector organizations and help them concentrate on social issues that they actually have set out to solve.

ITIHAS, a not for profit consulting and services organization, was started in mid-2006 to address the above needs of the citizen sector. ITIHAS consists of a group of young professionals with varied backgrounds and with a good understanding of the citizen sector and its needs.

Mission of ITIHAS:

To accelerate social change by helping non-profit organizations strategize core functions and program implementation at the grass-root level and by facilitating mutually profitable relationships between social organizations through collaboration and networking.
